single board computer and related products. |
The VIPER-Lite board offers a long list of features making it ideal for power sensitive embedded communications and multimedia applications. The board has been designed to take advantage of the power saving modes of the PXA255 processor and other onboard peripherals to achieve an incredible 1.5W typical power consumption. The VIPER-Lite also supports a very low power standby mode.
The VIPER-Lite board includes a
TFT/STN flat panel graphics controller, onboard soldered SDRAM and resident Flash, 10/100baseTx Ethernet, 3 serial ports, USB client and a CompactFlash interface (CF+). The board form factor measures 96mm x 91mm.
The VIPER-Lite
is configured for cost sensitive, high volume applications and is
supported with a low cost Entry Level Development Kit for
embedded
Linux. For Windows CE or VxWorks, it is recommended that
initial development is carried out using a standard
VIPER PC/104 board and the
Development Kits for
Windows
CE 5.0 and
VxWorks
5.5. Arcom also provides support for
RedBoot™,
a utility based on the eCos RTOS, which serves as a simple boot manager
and download tool for embedded Linux applications. To speed up the
process of system integration, you can purchase
individual
cables and the Ethernet adapter module
used within the
VIPER
ICE enclosure and the associated development kits. The VIPER
board can be connected directly to the
VIPER-I/O module
to provide opto-isolated inputs, outputs, relay control, push switches
and status LEDs.
One of the practical issues to be resolved by OEM users is the connection
of displays from different manufacturers. Arcom has made this easy by offering a number of display interface adapters to create direct
connection to a wide range of displays from companies such as NEC, Sharp,
Optrex, Hitachi and Kyocera. Arcom also provides a low cost module for converting the output signalling to
LVDS
- a
system for driving displays located up to 5m from the video source. A complementary adapter
is also available to convert from LVDS back to parallel digital. This
adapter is particularly useful for small form factor displays which do not support LVDS input.
